Colorbond Fencing

Colorbond fencing in Pakenham.

Durable, low-maintenance steel boundary fencing in the full Colorbond colour range — engineered for Cardinia’s clay soils and built to stand straight for decades across Pakenham and the growth corridor.

The default boundary fence for Cardinia estates.

Walk through almost any newer estate in the Cardinia growth corridor — Cardinia Lakes, Officer, Heritage Springs — and the boundaries are overwhelmingly Colorbond. There is a good reason for that. Steel handles our high-UV summers without fading or warping, it shrugs off the wet and the heat, and it never needs repainting. For the thousands of new homes going up here each year, it is simply the most sensible boundary money can buy.

We build every Colorbond fence for the ground underneath it. Cardinia’s clay-reactive soils swell and shrink with the seasons, so we set posts at the correct depth in concrete to stop the slow lean that ruins a fence rushed in on shallow footings. On sloping blocks we step or rake the panels cleanly so the top line stays sharp rather than following every dip in the ground. The result is a fence that still looks straight in ten years.

Colours, heights and what it costs.

You choose from the complete Colorbond steel range — Monument, Basalt, Woodland Grey, Jasper, Surfmist and the rest — and we can match an existing estate scheme. Standard heights run from 1.5 to 1.8 metres, with taller screening available. As a 2026 guide, Colorbond runs about $110–$170 per lineal metre supplied and installed. A worked example: a 30-metre rear boundary at 1.8 metres and $135 per metre is roughly $4,050, before any allowance for old-fence removal, rock or stepped panels.

Done to the right codes.

A standard dividing fence up to 2.1 metres generally does not need a building permit. Go taller than 2.1 metres, or build a fence that also retains soil, and VBA registration plus the NCC rules for building near boundaries come into play, alongside any Cardinia Shire planning or building permit on height or corner-splay. Shared boundaries are covered by the Fences Act 1968, and we Dial Before You Dig before the post holes go in. We confirm exactly what applies before we quote.
