About Pakenham Fencing
A local enquiry and quoting service for fencing across Pakenham and Cardinia Shire.
Fencing enquiries for Pakenham and Cardinia Shire.
Pakenham Fencing is a local enquiry and quoting service for fencing across Pakenham, Officer, Cardinia Lakes, Lakeside, Heritage Springs, Beaconsfield and the rest of Cardinia Shire. It covers Colorbond, timber paling, pool and rural fencing, plus gates and gate automation. The site is run by Yes Right Pty Ltd (ABN 91 664 546 061).
How it works.
You call or use the quote form and tell us the suburb, the length of fence and what you want built or replaced. We pass the job to a local fencing business that can price it. That business quotes you directly, and it is responsible for its own licences, insurance and workmanship. We don't charge you for the enquiry. Businesses we refer work to may pay us a referral fee.
What to check on any fencing quote.
- Permits. Under the Building Regulations 2018 most domestic fences under 2 metres do not need a building permit. A fence or gate over 2 metres, or one on a corner splay, needs a Cardinia Shire building permit. Ask who arranges it.
- Retaining and tall fences. Anything that retains soil is structural and needs a VBA-registered practitioner, and often engineering. Check the registration on the Victorian Building Authority register before you book.
- Pool and spa barriers. A pool or spa barrier must meet AS 1926.1, be registered with Cardinia Shire and be inspected by a registered building surveyor or inspector, who issues a certificate of barrier compliance.
- Gate automation. Running mains power to a gate is electrical work and must be done by a licensed electrician, who issues a Certificate of Electrical Safety.
- Shared boundaries. A dividing fence is governed by the Fences Act 1968, so your neighbour has a legal say in what goes up.
- Services underground. Ask whether Dial Before You Dig has been done before any post holes.
- Insurance. Ask for a copy of the business's current public liability insurance certificate. If a cash-job fencer without insurance injures someone, you can end up wearing it.
- A written, itemised quote. It should state the linear metreage, the material and height, and separate demolition and disposal from supply and install.
